The Jabra Enhance Plus Earbuds

Jabra Enhance plus are ITC earbuds that are essentially hearing amplifiers. They are an assistive hearing device but not like a traditional hearing aid.

Tiny, even for a pair of earbuds. According to Jabra, the Enhance Plus are about 40% smaller than the Elite 7 Pro. Gold Beige and Dark Gray are the two available color choices. An EarGel is used on the part that sits in the ear canal, which is made of a soft, bendable material known as EarGel. The Enhance Plus comes with medium-sized EarGels installed, while additional sizes of EarGels are included in the box.

To use the Enhance Plus, insert the earbud into your ear and twist it downward. The Ear Gel will reside inside the ear canal, providing a comfortable seal. They’re pleasant enough to wear for 10 hours on a single charge. The charging cable is only about three feet long, but the case holds around 30 hours of power, so you’ll only need to plug it in once every few days.

Jabra Enhance App Setup

The Enhance Plus is only compatible with a limited number of Apple iPhone models. You’ll need iPhone 11 or later running iOS 15.1 or higher to get full functionality (including hands-free calls). Go to the Jabra support page for a complete list of compatible iPhone models. The earbuds can be linked using the app, but none of the three attempts worked. I had to link them in the Hearing Devices menu of the Accessibility settings. It’s not difficult, but it’s worth noting because if you’re used to pairing ordinary wireless earbuds, you may not know that made-for-iPhone hearing aids are operated from a different menu.

Once the earbuds are linked, you’ll need to set the hearing aids using Personalization. The app plays a variety of tones at various pitches and volumes during Personalization. You should tap the screen each time you hear the sound. Your baseline personalization profile gets programmed into the earbuds based on which noises you can hear. After that, the software requires you to listen to a conversation recording in a crowded restaurant. You have three choices: Normal, which will maintain your baseline programming; Clear, which will boost the treble frequencies and lower the bass; and Full, which will boost the bass frequencies while lowering the treble. The process and settings take just a few minutes.

Natural Sound for Every Environment

The Jabra Enhance Plus comes with several listening modes, like many other hearing aids. Adaptive mode activates automatically and improves certain sounds while muffling others based on what it thinks you need to hear. Background noise is filtered out using focus mode, which employs directional microphones to focus on nearby noises, such as the person you’re talking to. Surround mode emphasizes ambient sound and is a nice option for walking or working in busy public areas.

All three settings were beneficial. While walking about the area or going on a trip, I utilized Surround. It was pleasant to hear the birds and approaching cars or people riding by. I could enjoy my walk and listen to everything I needed to remain secure.

Sound Quality

The Enhance Plus is Bluetooth-enabled, so it may be used with any Bluetooth headset. My previous hearing aid couldn’t keep a solid connection with my phone even if it was in my back pocket, yet the Enhance Plus maintained an excellent link.

Unlike the traditional hearing aid, the sound quality is incredible. However, even when compared to my old hearing aid, the Jabra Enhance Plus has outstanding sound quality. Everything was clear without any trouble on my end most of the time. When sounds were a little noisy, I could increase the volume to fix it. There was never even a hint of tinniness in any way.

Can a Jabra Hearing Aid Replace Traditional Hearing Aids?

Why can’t I use them instead of my normal hearing aid? The Jabra Enhance Plus isn’t meant to be used all day, unlike traditional hearing aids. They’re designed for situational usage in restaurants and walks in the woods. Ten hours of battery life may appear enough for a whole day, but that’s not the case. Hearing aids should be worn from when you wake up until you go to bed. Otherwise, your neural pathways will wear down over time, your hearing may deteriorate significantly, and you may be more prone to Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia.

For many individuals, hearing aids are an essential part of their lives. They allow people previously deaf to hear and experience the world around them in ways they could not before. I heard squirrels rummaging through leaves, birds singing, and my shoes scuffing the pavement. When individuals can, ideally, they should switch to traditional hearing aids. If not, they will still have better conversations but won’t get the same benefits from long-term, regular hearing aid usage.
